Wondercraft for podcasts in 2026: Convo Mode, and where the podcast tools went

The short answer

Wondercraft now describes itself as an AI video studio, with podcasts listed among its audio-first formats. Its main podcast feature is Convo Mode, launched in June 2025: you write a script like a screenplay, assign two AI voices, and it generates the whole conversation as one clip that you can edit and regenerate in parts. There's a free plan, and commercial rights start on the $25 a month Creator plan (as of October 2026).

Wondercraft was one of the earlier names in AI-generated audio, and it still shows up when people search for AI podcast tools. I build an AI co-host for podcasts, so I went through Wondercraft's current site, pricing and help center to see what it offers for podcasters today. Everything here is as of October 2026.

Wondercraft now leads with video

The first thing you'll notice is the positioning. Wondercraft's homepage describes it as an AI video studio for making professional, business-ready video. Podcasts are still there, listed with audio ads, meditations and narrated content as audio-first formats it supports.

The homepage still links to an AI podcast generator, described as a way to plan, record and auto-edit episodes with music and chapters. When I checked on October 8, 2026, though, that link pointed to an archived tools section and returned an error. The podcast feature that's clearly current and documented is Convo Mode.

What Convo Mode does

Convo Mode launched in June 2025. The idea is to generate a conversation between AI voices as a single performance, rather than stitching separate clips together, so the voices react to each other more naturally.

According to Wondercraft's help center, it's built for back-and-forth between two speakers. The workflow looks like this:

What it costs

Wondercraft has a free plan with a small number of credits. The Creator plan, at $25 a month or $21 a month billed yearly, is where the pricing page lists no watermark and full commercial rights, along with a custom AI character. Pro starts at $45 a month and adds team seats and higher limits.

Who it's for

Convo Mode suits people who want tight control over a scripted two-voice conversation: audio ads, training material, explainer episodes, or a podcast-style segment where you care about exactly how each line lands. If you mainly want to make video, Wondercraft's broader studio is now built for that.

How it differs from an AI co-host

Convo Mode performs a conversation you've written. An AI co-host takes part in one you're actually having. maneku joins your Descript, Riverside or Restream recording as a participant with its own tile, name and voice. It listens to you and your guests, stays quiet until you summon it, and responds to whatever was just said.

I built maneku. I also make all the artwork and marketing for Dry Quest, an app I developed with my wife, and I'm usually building a smaller app or two on the side. I co-host the Bro History podcast, and by day I work in revenue operations. Before all of this, I was an artist across a lot of mediums, including music and audio.

Want a co-host in your next recording?

maneku is in open beta on macOS. It joins Descript, Riverside and Restream as a real participant.
